Alabama Chanin – Handsewing, Upcycling, Gorgeous
I never heard of Alabama Chanin upcycled/“slow sewn”/sustainable couture until today. Check out that gorgeous corset made from teeshirts! I would love to sew myself something that gorgeous. I might have to check out her book. Anyone want to start a craft project with me?
Spirit Bears of California
Have you heard of Mat Pringle? He’s a British illustrator who took the California bear as a subject for a series of delightful illustrations. You should check out his website for more.
Hah, loving Jim Behrle. Check out his cartoons on the Hairpin, too!
“We Just Tell You What’s Happening on Blogs And Twitter”
Absolutely gorgeous time lapse night-sky photography from the South Coast of Australia. I particularly love the hissing waves and the white foam that ebbs and flows under the pan of the sky the entire time. Makes you realize how much we lose living in cities, where the flashing lights of entertainment signage and headlights take the place of the ageless show above.
I’ve seen this piece before – love breaking down maps (already neat to look at) into the shapes of their intra-street and intra-waterway land masses. By French artist Armelle Caron.
Matthew Rangel’s artwork – “Due East – A Transect”
Had the pleasure of running into California artist Matthew Rangel’s artwork in a book I just finished – William Tweed’s “Uncertain Path”. I’ll be reviewing the book, with its incisive look at the future of America’s National Parks, this week. In the meantime, enjoy Matthew’s cool lithograph/sketches from his hike in the High Sierras:
Some summery leaf art photos to brighten your foggy SF June day!
I haven’t had enough Andy Goldsworthy on TON.
That’s just like, your opinion, man. Having flashbacks to a big lebowski party in orono, maine. Deep midwinter 2005. “Salty dog” white russians.
Poof!
